In a "tint" painting, no black paint is used, only white paint is mixed with the colored paints.

In a "shade" painting, no white paint is used, only black paint is mixed with the colored paints.
In a "tone" painting, no black or white paint is used, only different shades of gray paint are mixed with the brown paint.
In a "brown tone" painting is monochromatic. Only different shades of gray paint are mixed with the brown paint.
"Op Art" designs are geometrically busy and the painted surface appears to move.
Pop artists used common place objects like hamburgers, comic strips, and soup cans as a subject matter.
